Face Rejuvenation Therapy - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Face Rejuvenation Therapy?

Face Rejuvenation Therapy combines aspects of Biodynamic CranioSacral Therapy, acupressure (based on the meridian system of Chinese medicine),  lymphatic drainage, and whole face-lift massage to release underlying restrictions in the face that can cause us to look older and tired.

How is Face Rejuvenation Therapy different from a Facial?

A Facial is a procedure involving a variety of skin treatments, including steam, exfoliation, extraction, creams, lotions, facial masks, peels, and massage. Facials work on the surface of the skin and give little or no attention to the underlying tissues.

Face Rejuvenation Therapy works on the underlying supportive tissues of the face, head and neck to release restrictions that result in sagging skin, wrinkles and poor circulation.   We've all heard people talk about trauma or tension being held in the body. (Think of tight shoulders resulting from a stressful job, or a chronically stiff shoulder after an accident.)

Well, tension and trauma can also be held in the face.  This can result in muscle weakness and restrictions that in turn result in sagging skin and wrinkles, as well as reduction in blood flow to the cells and subsequently a reduction of the oxygen available to individual cells of the skin.

In Face Rejuvenation Therapy we work to release the tension / trauma in the underlying soft tissue, so that it can function optimally, properly supporting the skin, smoothing out wrinkles and increasing the flow of blood to better support individual cells.

In each treatment I use a “listening touch” which responds uniquely to each individual and each situation. This then opens possibilities of deep healing. The face might want to push out old trauma or pull in renewed balance and energy.
