Assisted
Progressive Stretching combines
components of Sports Massage, Therapeutic Stretching, AIS and Thai
Bodywork, to create a treatment focused on improved flexibility
and range of motion. APS works by putting the client through a series
of assisted postures to stretch specific parts of the body. The
body is stretched, relaxed and stretched again, with a progressively
deeper stretch in each repetition. Perfect for working through "stuck"
areas in your yoga or pilates routine, or for pre- or post workout
to prevent injury and maintain flexibility. (Great for runners and
cyclists.) The receiver should wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes
such as a cotton t-shirt and light cotton sweat pants or yoga pants.
Cranial
Sacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating
and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called
the craniosacral system - comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal
fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using
a soft touch, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral
system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
By complementing the body''s natural healing processes, CST is increasingly
used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance
to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems
associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
Migraine Headaches, Chronic Neck and Back Pain, Scoliosis, Chronic
Fatigue, Stress and Tension-Related Problems
Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders, Temporomandibular
Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
Traditional
Swedish Massage (aka
Classic Massage) is the most common form of massage in the United
States. It involves manipulation of the muscles and connective tissues
of the body for relaxation and health maintenance. Swedish massage
uses five basic massage techniques (effleurage, petrissage, friction,
vibration and tapotement) to relax and create movement in muscles
and body tissues. It has shown to be helpful in reducing pain and
joint stiffness, and improving circulation and overall function.
This type of massage is both relaxing and invigorating. It is an
excellent way to help rid the body of tension and to achieve a sense
of overall well-being.
Thai
Massage, often
called "lazy man's yoga" is a fully clothed therapy performed
on the massage table. The practitioner uses her hands, arms, elbows,
knees and feet to perform leaning pressure, reflexology and acupressure,
working the energy lines (sen lines), and assisted stretching, with
some yoga postures. The rhythmic, meditative style of thai massage
allows one to enter into a state of deep relaxation, as well as
allowing any imbalance of energy to flow through and out of the
body. Benefits: Increased flexibility, increased energy flow &
circulation, relaxing nerve constriction, lymph stimulation, improve
structural balance and to facilitate the release of emotional pain
or blocked energy. The receiver should wear comfortable, loose fitting
clothes such as a cotton t-shirt and light cotton sweat pants or
yoga pants. This therapy can be adjusted to 1 hour but it is recommended
to experience the full body 90 minute therapy.
